Desktop Client Calendar Instructions
The Psychology and Neuroscience Department’s web calendar is now up and running. However, accessing the calendar via web browser is not the only option. If you would like to view the departmental calendar(s) in a desktop calendar application so that, for example, the departmental events are integrated with your own, there are several options. This page will describe some of these options, though it should be noted that any calendar program that supports the standard “.ics” format will work.
There are a couple of cross-platform (Mac, Windows, Linux) solutions called “Sunbird” and “Lightning” from the makers of the Firefox web browser. Sunbird is a standalone calendar application, whereas Lightning is an extension to the “Thunderbird” email client that gives Thunderbird integrated calendar features. You can find both of these pieces of software on the Mozilla Calendar Project page.
If you have a Macintosh computer, the various departmental calendars integrate quite nicely with the iCal application.
Below are links to the various departmental calendars. You can subscribe to as many or as few calendars as you wish. You can also easily unsubscribe later if you so choose. When you click on a link, you’ll be prompted by your calendar client to subscribe.
