Graduate ProgramsGraduate Certificate Program The institute sponsors a graduate certificate program and a joint PhD program that provide exceptional breadth and depth of interdisciplinary training in the cognitive sciences. Graduate students who are interested in either of these ICS programs must first be admitted to a participating graduate program that has cognitive science faculty. Students in good academic standing in one of these academic units then make a formal application for admission to the certificate or joint PhD program at ICS. Both programs have formal approval from the Graduate School and completion of the programs is acknowledged by a certificate of completion on the students transcript. Approximately 50 graduate students from seven different academic units are currently enrolled in these programs. The institute sponsors several program enhancement activities designed to support the learning experience for ICS students, such as the Teaching Colloquium series. ICS student members can also take an active role in the administration of ICS programs. Student representatives serve on the ICS curriculum committee and the student travel fund committee and elect one representative to serve on the ICS executive committee. Student Research and Travel FundsTo encourage student participation in interdisciplinary study and research, the institute provides funds, administered by a student committee, for students through the student research fund as well as travel funds to attend and present at interdisciplinary conferences. |
